Two Artists: Works on Paper and Canvas

Karleen Loughran and Lisa Hess Hesselgrave

March 31 - May 25, 2012

Opening Reception March 31, 2012, 5 to 8 pm

Karleen Loughran
My work represents the moment-by-moment release of creative expression through my own personal artistic language, grounded in formal abstract elements of color, texture, line, and composition. Each individual piece is a distinct imprint of an on-going creative experience. In my work, I hope to shift the viewer's perceptions from a literal level to one more emotional and spiritual, eliminating the need to "know," and allowing the freedom to respond intuitively.

Lisa Hess Hesselgrave
Combining observation and memory, my work reflects the visible world and revels in its mystery. Uncluttered landscapes and interiors serve as backdrops for scenes that appear ordinary yet, distilled into an essence of color, light and form, suggest an underlying tension or deeply felt state of being. Though my subject matter originates from personal roots, I hope to convey something universal, allowing viewers to bring their own meaning into the work.
